Recommended Vapi lane
RingCentral
Forward RingCentral calls to a GE number
Start with call forwarding for fast activation. Porting is the clean dedicated-number path, while RingCentral SIP/BYOC is exceptional concierge work.
Forwarding
Fastest for SMB and dental
Import
Best when Twilio or Telnyx owns the number
SIP URI
Clean path for PBX and SIP admins
BYO SIP
Assisted carrier or enterprise setup
Custom bridge
For queues, hold, and warm transfer
What we will not pretend
- Forwarding calls into General Employee is separate from transfers that send callers back out from the assistant.
- SMS continuity requires number import, porting, or a separate messaging setup.
- Forwarded calls may present RingCentral or diversion headers instead of the original caller in the From header.
Forwarding
The customer keeps their current phone system and forwards selected calls into a General Employee number.
Import
The customer already owns the number in Twilio or Telnyx, then connects it to the assigned assistant.
SIP URI
A PBX or SIP-capable provider routes calls to a generated static SIP URI.
BYO SIP
An assisted setup where carrier SIP credentials and DID details are configured as a BYO SIP trunk.
Custom bridge
A custom Twilio or telephony app handles queues, hold, warm transfer, specialist routing, and other advanced call-flow control.
